Ranger Up!

I saw today that the remaining women that were enrolled in Ranger school were failed in phase one. All in all that is nothing to be ashamed of there is the intestinal fortitude that is required to even attempt to be a member of the top 3% in the Army. I have nothing but respect for anyone that gives it the effort that is required to be there. That being said I think there is a general misunderstanding about females in the military. There are jobs in the military that lend themselves to both genders. There are a lot of jobs while they may lend themselves to an average male it would take an above average female to be able to keep up. When you get into the jobs that require an above average male it would take an exceptional female to be able to do the same job. This is not sexist it is biology, there are very few women that can carry as much or as far. There are very few women that can do this and still be as explosive muscularly or be able to make the same ruck march as a man and still be able to fight when they arrived. Once again this is just biology. I have experience with females in the military, not all of them were good and not all of them were bad. It greatly depended on your expectations from the individuals. I have known Male soldiers that were gigantic oxygen thieves and I have known Female soldiers that were the same. In my experience when there were things that needed to be done that required physical exertion the Female soldiers would need to work together or ask for help. For the most part a male soldier was not shown the same acceptance of the lack of physical abilities. This is also demonstrated in the physical standards for the Army. The female standards have been modified to allow for the lack of muscle mass or heart size. There are always going to be Females out there that can physically outwork a man but the standards that I outlined above still apply. Male Physicality Equity Female Physicality Average ≥ Average Average ≈ Above Average Above Average ≥ Exceptional Above Average ≈ Elite Exceptional No Comparison Elite No Comparison There are no Females in this line of work that can be competitive with an Exceptional or Elite Male. That is taking into consideration that we are talking about pure physicality. While Females can shoot just as well as male soldiers, the leadership abilities would be the same as long as the physicality is removed from it. The Problem solving is the same, we are referring just to physicality. Biologically women cannot compete when the level needed is exceptional or elite. The Rangers, SEAL, Special Forces, Marine Recon are Exceptional and Elite. Physically Females cannot compete, or keep up over the long term. There are physical specimens that would be able to keep up for a period of time but they are by far the exception. This is just biology.

After the Zombies

My sons are obsessed with the zombie apocalypse. I understand that the Zombie Apocalypse is more of a metaphor of the idea of all of the trappings of modern civilization failing and having to survive in a world where everything that we have become accustomed to is gone. No more grocery stores, no electricity, having to hunt and gather your own food. It is assumed that there would soon be fewer people to compete with for the vastly reduced available resources. I remember on my last trip that I had to take for work my youngest son asked me if the zombies come while I am away what should they do. I had no answer for that, as a matter of fact I was kind of at a loss. If everything fell apart and I was unable to get home as easily as I once was what would I do? The Giant Orange Head

I have heard a few jokes in my time with the Government that have been directed very poignantly at some of the problems that the supervisors and management deal with on a daily basis. One of my favorites is “The Giant Orange Head” A man goes to work on Monday morning and walks by his friend’s office. He looks in at his friend and is startled to see his friend with a head that looks like a 3 foot giant orange with a face on it. He franticly asks his friend what in the world happened.
